Katoomba Scenic Skyway

There is an awful lot of technical data regarding the cable car but here's a few interesting facts;

bullet

It was installed in 1958

bullet

It is the only passenger carrying horizontal ropeway in the Southern Hemisphere.

bullet

The cable is strung across a portion of the Jamison Valley between two 200 metre high cliff faces.

bullet

A complete trip takes 5 mins and carries passengers 360 meters across the Valley.

bullet

The highest point the cable car is above the creek is 226 metres

bullet

From 1st August 1979 to 31st October 1998, 4,234,295 passengers have enjoyed the ride.

We were lucky that the weather was good and we could see for miles across the Park, we were also early in the day and got the cable car all to ourselves.  Below are a few photos. As always, click on the small images to enlarge them.
